Massage Therapy Services Offered

At LMS we want to accomplish full body wellness for you. We offer many different treatments and are always expanding and striving for more ways to help you. At LMS, before each session we will discuss what your visit pertains to and then explain what the plan for your massage is. We customize each therapy session combining the following types of massages to meet the individual needs.

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy:

Neuromuscular Therapy is a specialized form of deep tissue massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain into the muscle. The areas of strain can be called trigger points and myofascial points. Myofascial points are tender areas within the fascia.

Trigger Point Massage Therapy:

A trigger point is a tight area within the muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. For example an active trigger point in the neck may produce pain behind the eyes (as seen in the picture to the left). The therapists will asses your body and all the trigger points. If they find an active trigger point they will apply pressure and hold that pressure until it releases and move to the next trigger point.

Sports Massage Therapy:

A Sports massage is ideal to treat injuries and as well as a preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscles and connective tissue, range of movement, tone, symmetry, balance of muscle and quality of posture. Sports massage can be helpful pre or post, workout and/or event.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy:

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish/relaxation massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue tendons and fascia. Fascia the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints. The body has layers of muscle. We address the top layer of muscle first. After the top layer releases we then address the next layer and so on, till all layers of your muscle have been released of tension .

Thai Yoga Massage :

We like to call Thai Massage The "Lazy Man's Yoga". You relax while your Thai Massage Therapist Stretches you and Massages you at the same time. Thai Massage can be as aggressive or passive as you would like your session to be and has a variety of different benefits. Thai Massage increases your mobility and range of motion, while decreasing stiffness and pain.

Prenatal Massage:

During your prenatal massage you can be lying on your side with multiple supportive pillows or lying face down in our special prenatal pillow, built to comfort moms throughout the different stages of pregnancy. We work on areas such as your hips to help them open up and prepare for labor. We avoid areas like the inside of your ankle that can cause premature labor if pressure is applied to the area and held for 10 seconds or longer. Prenatal massage can also increase your circulation and relive the overall aches and pains that baby has been putting on your body. Remember the less stressed you are the less stress on baby. The less stress on you and baby the easier your pregnancy and birth will be.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage:

Lymphatic Drainage Massage can be performed manually (by hand) and also with cupping therapy. It is a technique developed to treat fluid build up. For example post surgery, chest congestion, sinus congestion, edema, lymphedema and too many toxins within the body. Lymphatic fluid is located between the skin and muscle. The drainage technique is a very light technique. Even lighter then most swedish/relaxation massages. If you push too hard you will temporarily collapse the lymph passage way and the excess fluid will not be able to be pushed to the lymph node for drainage. This massage can be pared with a deeper pressure massage. Lymphatic Drainage will have to be performed before the deeper work to ensure the fluid can drain.

Geriatric Massage:

Geriatric Massage is a form of massage designed to meet the needs of the elderly. During this massage the massage therapist will manipulate soft tissue to improve circulation, relieve pain & increase range of motion. The pressure is usually lighter to ensure the client is not injured internally or by tearing skin (many elderly people have paper like skin).

Swedish/Relaxation Massage:

A relaxation massage consists of Long smooth gliding strokes that are rhythmic and flowing. Pressure that is deeply relaxing, but not painful. This is a treatment that is designed to soothe and relax you, not to relieve chronic pain or other underlying ailments. This treatment can be combined with other modalities as seen above.

Couples Massage :

This can be any style of massage seen above. The difference the couples massage has to a single person appointment is there will be two massages happening in the same room. Typically people come with their significant other. Others do bring a friend, mother, sister ect. This can be great for someone who has never received a massage before, to have support and comfort of a loved one in the same room as them.
